It is sobering to think how one’s best efforts effectively end up on the scrap heap. Some years I edited, produced and organised the launch of a big full colour book – The Tattoo – that I sweated blood over.
The book was complied from the collection of The Illustrated Man tattooist Tony Cohen, and launched by Angry Anderson of the band Rose Tattoo in the old Necropolis station at Central Railway to considerable fanfare. It became a very successful publication running to two editions and formed the basis of a major exhibition.
So it was rather sad to see a copy signed by Tony with a handwritten dedication to Angry, turn up in an on-line second hand bookshop for $100 … complete with his launch invitation slipped inside.
